Design & Technology / ICT

 

Students are taught a wide range of technology subjects including Food Technology, Graphics, Resistant Materials and Textiles at Key Stage 3. They undertake varied design and make projects such as copper enamelled jewellery, an electronic torch and a hand-made embellished felt box in Year 7; Design & Technology ICT

 a board game, a wooden storage box and a decorated cushion in Year 8; a cultural food project and silver jewellery in Year 9. In Year 10 they can choose to take a GCSE subject in any of the above DT subjects. Some subjects are offered as short course options.  They can also choose from more vocational craft based City and Guilds courses which currently include Stained Glass and Mosaics.

ICT

Students learn how to utilise ICT to ensure rapid access to ideas and experiences from
a wide range of people, communities and cultures.

 

ICT

In Year 7 pupils study Creating a Presentation, Using Data and Information Sources, Making a Leaflet, Modelling and Presenting Numeric Data.

In Year 8 they study Publishing on the Web, Information - Reliability, Validity and Bias, Models and Presenting Numeric Data, Databases and using publisher to inform an audience.
In Year 9 pupils study Control technology, Communication Systems, Online Databases, Modelling systems.

We offer 3 GCSE courses: Short course ICT, Full course ICT and BCS (Business Communications Studies)
