‘These are a stunning set of results which show a real strength across a broad range of subjects. The fact that a third of all grades awarded to the school were A or A* is an exceptional achievement.

The staff and pupils are to be congratulated on the results which reflect the high expectations we have for everyone at Millais. These are the highest ever in the school’s history and emphasise the continual progress and consistently high standards which have been set and achieved over the last 10 years. I am pleased that pupils of all abilities are able to celebrate success.

A real triumph for all concerned with 100% of pupils achieving 5+ A*-G passes.’

Notes for Editors:

1. Out of 293 candidates in 2009, Millais pupils gained 33.31% combined A* and A passes, setting the standard for West Sussex maintained schools.

2. Millais pupils achieved 84% 5 or more A-C grades in 2008, raising the bar by 3% in 2009.
